My 20th.

Well well well, I've reached the 2-0 club! OMG! It's really scary once you reach this age. I guess time flies even faster when you are in your 20s. What can i say? My heart is still young!
Taking a trip down the memory lane......
Do you still remember in 2009, you guys came back to AMKSS to give me a surprise for my 17th Birthday during one of the FDC training? It was the time when all the surprises started cause it was the first year after our graduation from AMKSS and we were all separated from each other. Some going to JCs while others going to Polys. I was still quite innocent then as in I didn't really expect much until I saw Qian Hui and some of them walking around the school compound like very busy and didn't really stop by to say Hi or talk to me. It was then that I suspected something and after a while, they came with the surprise.

Similar thing happen this year! However, this time round was by my dear alvin sir, juniors and cadets. As usual, I didn't expect anything since it's one day before my birthday until they started to act weirdly. Suddenly, Sheryl and Chongxi weren't there so i kind of suspected something to happen already but I just follow the flow till they started to sing birthday song for me at the foyer but it was a miscomm... They supposed to blindfold me to the canteen then sing but well, Jia Min gave the cue and the cadets sang and the NCOs and Sheryl didn't manage to blindfold me until I got a "bandage burn" then I let go and let them do whatever they want despite still struggling a bit.

I'm really quite touched due to the fact that I just came back for my first training after like 6 months and I really thought that the feel and everything is different already and I've to start all over again to get back that bond and etc and this is their first time celebrating for me (if i didn't remember wrongly)? So I thought none of them would even notice or remember that the following day is my birthday. And it's not those really last minute one as you can see that the Sec3s prepared a gift for me and the NCOs sang a song for me and I received cards from Chongxi, Sheryl (first time ok!), Jerwie, the NCOs and Yuen Ling (quite surprised too).

So basically this is how some things have changed and how some things remained after these 3 years.
Time flies, my 17th birthday celebration was after our graduation from AMKSS and now I'm graduating from Ngee Ann Poly already. I guess this would seriously be the last birthday celebration I would have in AMKSS.

So I guess you all would want to see the results for the birthday SMSes now right?
This year........
1. MR TAN KAI SHENG
2. MS MENDI ANG YI XUAN
3. MR SIM CHUN YOU
Alright, shall just announce the top 3 as the rest are after 0000 hrs.
Of course not forgetting to thank those who posted on FB too or SMS and posted on FB. Really much appreciated.
THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO THE 150 PLUS PEOPLE WHO HAS WISHED ME THIS YEAR!

However would like to comment again, just like the previous years, I really appreciate birthday wishes by SMS much much more than FB. But I think the number of people who smsed has dropped by quite a lot this year.  :( And I've yet to hear from some of those who I expect to hear from. That's quite disappointing in a way but I know this kind of thing can;t be forced. If you really forget or too busy then it's ok. Actually birthday is just like any other day except that your FB wall will have lots of posts and SMSes will increase by a lot as compared to usual and you might be surprised to hear from your Pri sch friend or some random people that you really have to scratch your head to recall who he/she is and also people showing appreciation to what you've done for them thus far which can be quite touching at times. But in my opinion, I feel that it isn't necessary to show your love or appreciation only on birthdays but you can do it anytime and anywhere. It's all the little thought and effort that actually counts. You don't have to wait for special occasions to do it you know.
Just like for a couple, if you love each other, any day can be Valentine's Day to you. You don't have to wait till 14 Feb (once per year) to do something special for your loved one. You can always give surprises every now and then and it'll definitely be better that way.

Next question would be, how did you spend your birthday?
Well, if I'm not wrong,  these few years, I've been spending my birthdays (exact day) alone. It's not exactly a sad thing cause it's like finally you have a day to yourself. You're not forced to do anything but on your own accord. You would feel like you're a Princess, can go anywhere you want or do anything you like. So, for this year, I gave myself a little goal/challenge. I want to bring smiles to as many people as possible. But well, I only managed to do one proper one. I went to find a junior at work and treated her KOI. Then I wanted to find another senior since her workplace is also very near but nobody was there so I left.
When I reached home, replying to those birthday wishes on FB, this mentee of mine sent me a picture with msg on it. Quite a refreshing idea. She apologized for not knowing that it was my birthday although she wasn't late to be exact. I really didn't expect this. See....it's really the thought that counts and I was really touched by that. It added a smile to my face. Thank you girl!  :) Another one still bother to wish me even though she was late. :)

SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH PEOPLE! :D I LOVE YOU! :)
